    Michael Jones

    September 7, 1959 - September 4, 2021

God saw the road was getting rough, the hill was hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, "Peace be Thine." Michael Jones entered this world as the fourth child of Lawrence and Helen Jones on September 7, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. He was a 1978 graduate of Skyline High School. He was married in holy matrimony to Winnie Jones and to this union, two sons were born. It wasn't until May 27, 2002, Memorial Day that he met June Elliott, the woman that would be his forever soulmate. On July 19, 2003, Michael and June married in an intimate ceremony at his parent's home. Michael joined Koinonia Christian Church in 2009 where he served faithfully. As an exemplary workman for God, he maintained and upheld his untiring duties as a member of the First Impressions (Greeter) ministry, The Men of Joshua disciples, a Deacon, and a Watchman (security). From Michael's viewpoint, he felt he was his pastor's personal "Watchman." Michael worked for 34 years with the United States Postal Service. During this time, he also became an entrepreneur. Michael loved to cook and was known by family and friends for having extraordinary, "finger-licking good" BBQ! He got to share his grilling gift with others through his and his friend Derek Johnson's company, On the Run Smokers. They fought like brothers, but the brisket, ribs, and turkey legs were worth it. Michael leaves in God's capable hands to cherish his life his wife, June; his parents, Lawrence and Helen; his children, Michael, Jr. (Kendra), Damian (Summer), Berea, and Jordan; his grandchildren, Mi'Kayla, Mariah, Kamari, Damian, Jr., Kamorra, Mason, Kapri, Kawame, Jada, Faith, and Felicity, and a host of other children whose lives were influenced by his presence; and his siblings, Larry (Tammie), Donald (Paola), Rena (Ralph), Vincent, Kimberly (Charles), and Christopher (Tracye). Michael departed this life on September 4, 2021.
