The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He causes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23 James was born in Chicago IL to James Earl Conner, Sr. and Ellen (Ross) Conner on April 26, 1932. He attended Catholic grade and high school in Chicago, IL. After graduating high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy, November 26, 1951. He went through basic training in Chicago at Great Lakes Naval Academy, and served on the USS Rainier. He married Scottola (Hill) Conner on November 12, 1964 in Chicago IL.. He worked as a Marketing Administrator for IBM for almost 30 years and retired 1989. James was always a great ‘handyman’. Before he retired, and as a hobby, he started doing woodworking. He honed his woodworking skills, purchased his Shopsmith, and over the years made several pieces that his family and friends still have today with his name engraved on all of his work. Those that knew James, he was always the life of any party. With his quick wit and great sense of humor, family and friend gatherings were always fun and full of love. Even when he was ill, he still maintained that sense of humor and that beautiful smile and deep hearty laugh. James is preceded in death by James Earl Conner, SR (1941), Ellen Conner (1962), Mildred (Elliott) Story (2011), David Carlton Elliott (2004), Mary (Conner) Wilson (2018), Charles Edward Conner (2008), Robert Conner (2015), Tracie Anne Conner (2011).. James is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mrs.Scottola Conner, and his two children, Crystal J. Conner, Corey E Conner(Veronica Conner). Other survivors left to cherish his loving memory include, Jean M Conner, Mozena Durham , Linder Anderson (Jerome), Joyce Thrower, Luella Wilbon(Elye), and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
