    Carolyn Ralph

    May 19, 1945 - January 3, 2017

Carolyn Ralph passed away Tuesday January 3, 2017, in Mansfield, TX. Carolyn was born to Lala and Sam Horton on May 19, 1945 in Wendell, North Carolina. Carolyn was loved by many. Truly a free spirit, she spent her life seeking peace anywhere she could find it. Whether the beautiful coast of North Carolina, or Ogunquit Maine, her ‘favorite place on earth’ was always near the ocean. She gave birth to 5 wonderful children, continued her education, and was successful in obtaining her degree in Geology from UNCC. A certified Professional Geologist, she was often found collecting unique rocks from the sides of roadways when not working on an environmental clean-up. Carolyn spent her free time making art from pictures of her family. Her walls were covered with hundreds of photos, including extended step-family members she was always quick to welcome as her own. An active member of the Mormon Church, Carolyn was very committed to her goals in preparation for her transition. She will leave a hole in the hearts of many, though we will carry her with us until we meet again. As requested for decades, mom’s final resting place will be off Marginal Way on the coast of Ogunquit. Her name will be memorialized there for all who visit. She was preceded in death by her son Lance G. Kelley. She is survived by her son Richard D. Kelley, with sons Nick Kelley and Christopher Kelley, wife Teri and their daughters Samantha and Alexandra Kelley, her daughter Cherie Koerber with three children Ashley Gouin, Kristen Bailey, and Nicholas Richer, two step-children Zachary Carr, and Sean Carr, and two grandchildren, daughter Erin "Katie" Huskey, husband Bill, her sons - Adler j Smith, Benjamin A Smith and Corey L Smith with wife Laela R. Wallace Smith and 6 grandchildren, Joseph Keith Koerber with children Christopher Lance Poteat, Jessica LeAnne Poteat, Aneleise McKenzie Koerber and Duncan Joseph Koerber, wife Naomi Lashawn and 3 grandchildren, her brother Carl Horton & wife Linda, Sisters Sylvia Matthews and husband Matt, Sue H. Casey and husband Henry.
